From the moment guests enter The Plantation’s tropical setting, they are welcomed by South Seas ambiance that features pressed-tin and wooden slatted ceilings, The Plantation shutters on the windows, rattan tables and chairs, and ceiling fans reminiscent of the era of the famed film Casablanca.  The tropical theme is also reflected in the festive cocktail menu, which features Mojitos, tropical variations of Martinis and beach-inspired rum drinks. The Plantation’s bar features an impressive selection of wines from around the world, hand-crafted beers and an array of premium spirits. 

With the culinary talent of Alberti, the menu at The Plantation features dishes of the freshest ingredients inspired by flavors of the islands.  The creations include appetizers such as Ahi Tuna Sashimi Roll with Spicy Lump Crab and Avocado salad; Crispy Calamari with Beefsteak Tomato Salsa – Spicy Remoulade; and Sugar Cane Skewered Sweet Gulf Shrimp, Grilled Polenta-Parsley Cake Orange Chili Mojo.  Entrees include Coconut-chili Crusted Hawaiian Pink Snapper, Thai Cucumber “Noodles” Avacado-Fire Roasted Corn Salsa; Grilled Fusion Filet Mignon, House-

Alberti was formerly Chef at Passarelle and Bravo Bistro in Radnor, PA and at Lacroix in Philadelphia.  A graduate of Johnson & Wales in Rhode Island, he honed his culinary skills in Boston, Jackson Hole, WY, and as a personal chef aboard a private yacht, cruising the Caribbean, Latin America and South America. 

Open year-round, The Plantation Restaurant and Bar is operated by an award-winning team that includes Martin Grims, highly respected restaurateur, Pete Palladino, general manager, and Alberti.  Grims’ group of food establishments include Daddy O Hotel and Restaurant, also on Long Beach Island, and recently featured in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, and the newly opened The Inlet Restaurant and Bar in Somers Point, NJ, which boasts expansive views of the bay.

Grims and his partners also own restaurants in Pennsylvania that include Philadelphia’s Moshulu, the world’s oldest and largest tall ship that has been converted into a breathtaking restaurant with award-winning cuisine. In addition to receiving the AAA Four Diamond Award and being included in the Mobil Dining Guide, the ship was recently named one of Northeast America’s Top 15 Restaurants by noted food critic John Mariani. Du Jour Café and Market is another successful operation of this team, located on the Philadelphia Main Line in Haverford, PA. Until this past year, they operated Passerelle and Bravo Bistro on the Main Line as well, which was recognized as one of Philadelphia’s Ten Best Restaurants in Gourmet Magazine.  Grims also co-owns Tango Bar and Grill in Bryn Mawr, PA and Basil in Paoli, PA.
